Vision Board for Your Bullet Journal
As this year comes to a close, everyone is looking at their goals for the next year. Why not make a Vision board in your bullet journal to keep track of your goals and stay on top of them.
What is a Vision Board?
A vison board is a visual tool that people use to organize your plans and goals using images, magazine clippings, quotes and so much more. People use it as a visual source of motivation and inspiration in completing their goals.
Supplies for Your Vision Board
- Bullet Journal – Any bullet journal will do, but we recommend one with a thinker sheets of paper. Flue tends to leak through and make a mess.
- Writing Utensils – Choose drawing utensils that you are most comfortable with. Again make sure you get no-bleed markers, and be careful how much watercolor you use, if you go that route. Your pages may become wrinkled, but I think it gives it more character.
- Stickers, Washi tape, and Stamps – You can use the stickers and washi tape to stick down your images and magazine clippings. Stamps just make it look more creative.
- Sticky notes, Card Stock and Scrap Book Paper – If you have a small goal you can use a sticky note. It’s removable and interchangeable. Card stock holds up very well and looks great as a boarder for pictures.
- Quotes and Sayings – Have a list of inspirational quotes and sayings you can add helps encourage you, keep you going, and to never stop reaching for your goals.
- Scissors, Glue/Glue stick or Tape – Don’t forget these most important items. Make sure you have a good pair of scissors with sharp blades, and a comfortable handle. You can use whichever type of glue or tape you want. I like using a glue stick better. Regular glue is messy and the regular tape leaves a foggy/shiny glare on your vision board.
Purpose of a Vision Board in your Bullet Journal
- Motivation and Inspiration – Things aren’t always going to go the way you planned, but having a visual representation of your goals can keep you on the right track.
- Focus – Losing your focus is easy to do, but when you have your vision board with you in your bullet journal you can have your motivation with you wherever you go.
- Visualization – Having a visual representation of your goals helps you see what your goals are and how far you need to go or how far you have come to achieving them.
- Goal Setting – Making a vision board in your bullet journal will help you think about what your goals are and how to achieve them.
- Decision Making – Always check with your vision board to make sure your actions align with your goals.
Creating a Vision Board in your Bullet Journal
Creating a vision board in your bullet journal is a lot of fun, and you don’t have to do it alone. Invite your family and friends to make there own. Have snacks, drinks, and enough supplies for everyone. Make it a vision board bullet journaling party!
The first thing you want to do is think of what you want to put on your vision board. If it helps you can put your goals in categories, such as health, home, family, business or career, finances, self-care, and travel. Choose your categories and goals you want to accomplish.
Second, you need to find newspaper clipping, stamps, stickers, and any other items to represent your goals. Use whatever sticks out to you. If a doily reminds you that your goal is to visit your grandparents more often, attach it to your vision board under the family category.
Third, lay out all your items the way you want them. Use at least two sheets so you have enough room for everything, but don’t glue them down yet, just in case you want to change something. This way if something doesn’t fit or you want to move something, you can take it off or move it to another spot.
Fourth, once you have everything where you want it, glue or tape it in place. Be sure to make sure it is going to stay on so nothing falls off later.
Lastly, Look at your final product and be proud of your work. Make sure you carry it with you and look at it often to remind you of your goals and accomplishments.
Conclusion
This is a great activity to do with friends or family. You can even have your children make one for their goals, keep it for when they grow up, and give it to them when they graduate college. Everyone will love to see how their goals have changed over the years.
