There is nothing more relaxing on a hot summer day than sitting picnic style under a shady tree, right? So, why not make it one of the places you use creatively on a regular basis?

Whether in your backyard, at a park, or another area all together, setting up a picnic under a tree can be relaxing and help you connect with nature as you do what you love.

Now, let’s hit on a few areas and you can see what I mean:

Atmosphere

Sights

Depending on where you are, you could see many different things: forest, park, people/children, animals, insects, flowers, and more. The colors also range from earthy grass and bark to bright vibrant flower and clothing tones.

You are in an area where nature can inspire if you took a moment to welcome what it has to offer. You may notice something you didn’t before or find something that sparks an idea for something you’re working on.

Sounds

I’m sure you can already hear nature as it wakes in the morning. The birds chirping, insects buzzing, the neighbor mowing his lawn… oh, no, that’s not nature, that’s just a very early riser! Enjoy what you hear coming from the nature around you as you work or read. There may be a point, if you’re like me, where you are so engrossed in your work/book that you block everything out.

While out in the picnic setting, you could hear more from your neighbors as you work or enjoy a good book, but that doesn’t mean you have to listen to them the whole time. In some cases, neighbors can become too much and you just want some peace and quiet. If you can get that, great!

Sometimes, you have to take measures into your own hands and resort to your own devices. In this case, I would suggest you keep a device handy that has some nature sounds on it that you can listen to through headphones or if you work better with music, then I would definitely suggest putting on your favorite or go to work music on and forge ahead.

Smells

Nature has it’s own smells and most of the time they are very pleasing to the nose. The sent of grass (if you like that) and flowers come to mind. If you’re surrounded by trees, pine is a good scent too. You can also bring your own with drinks and snacks. It is a picnic after all!

Food/Drink

This is completely up to you, you decide what you want to bring with you, a full on picnic with all the trimmings or snacks that are easy to pick up and eat while you work/read. The choice is yours. What is your favorite thing to snack on while you work/read? What about to drink? There are plenty of thermoses available for warm teas and coffee, yetis are great for cold or warm. Take your favorites and enjoy!

Packing and Set Up
