Pavilion Scene

Ever think about working in a place that’s technically indoors, but has an outdoor feel as well. Yep, I’m talking about a pavilion! For this it would include areas such as Gazebos, park pavilions, and even backyard areas like sheds. Anywhere you can go inside but is pretty open counts!

Whether in your backyard, or at a public park, setting up your pavilion atmosphere can be easy and you can add your own touches to make it even more enjoyable.

Now, let’s hit on a few areas and you can see what I mean:

Away From Home

You’ll have to be careful with this one as some pavilions are public and can be reserved for parties and things. If you are lucky to have one near you where you can go and hand out without interference from planned events, it’s a great place to set up a mobile atmosphere.

Sights

Pavilions, whether smaller gazebos or larger event buildings can provide their own ascetic to the scenery depending on how they were built. I know some near us have a built in fireplace for you to use, screened windows which make it great for keeping insects from bothering you and possibly some lighting already installed for late afternoons.

Most public pavilions are in a park setting so seeing other people with their children is common, but you also have a chance to see nature at work as small animals scurry along, birds fly around and possibly land nearby. It’s definitely a good place to people watch, work on words, or just relax and read.

Sounds

The clatter of little feet as critters scurry by, the chirping of birds, playing children and depending on where you’re located, you may hear cars drive by.

If you enjoy music and bring some along, you could definitely be enjoying your favorite tunes as you work on your writing, project, or just relax.

Smells

Since pavilions are outdoors, you could possibly smell freshly cut grass. If it is located in a park, you could smell food cooking on a grill. The building itself could have its own scent. The smell of wood creates a rustic atmosphere.

Food/Drink

The type of food and drink here will completely depend on you. Whether you stop somewhere on the way to your location or bring it from home, these will be completely up to you.

This is where you can customize it to your liking and bring something portable, in a cooler, something sweet, something salty, something cold or something warm. Whatever you decide to bring along is yours to enjoy!

Home/Backyard Cafe

Creating a pavilion atmosphere at home may not be as easy to accomplish. If you don’t have prebuilt building, such as a gazebo, shed, or shelter, you may have to improvise.

Inside

Now, if you are staying in, you could create your pavilion atmosphere, but you’ll have to get a bit creative. If you have the gumption, time, and materials, you could build a portion of one in your home, but if not you can use a canopy to create your atmosphere.

To set up, you could create your gazebo with wood and a corner or portion of a wall. You would only build half or small portion with a seat underneath or to make it easier, hang some sheer sheet or canopy. Add some pillows to make it comfortable and anything else you want, a small bookshelf, a mini fridge, string lights, etc.

This is your space, so add what you want and make it fit your style.

Outside

Your backyard is a great place for you to set up your at-home pavilion. If you have a gazebo, a shed you’re not using, or even a canopy, you can create a great pavilion atmosphere.

Again you can use pillows, a rug, chairs or small couch, curtains, or paint to create the perfect atmosphere you are looking for.

Finishing Touches

Once you’ve decided how you want your at-home pavilion, you get to add any finishing touches you wish. Add some lights for an evening atmosphere, a cooler for easy access to food and drinks, or pillows for a more relaxed atmosphere. You could also add music, a small bookshelf, pictures, or any other items you feel would fit your atmosphere.

The possibilities are endless for this unique backyard setting.
