New Year, Fresh Start

Fresh Start

This time of year people are looking to get a fresh start with the new year. They may have written something down as to what they want to accomplish – making resolutions, goals, and plans for the new year.

This is the time where I usually go through every aspect of my business and create goals, putting them in a post as a way to keep myself accountable. Though as you can guess that hasn’t work out to well for me, so I plan to do a complete fresh start on this year.

I’m sure many of us would love to have a fresh start, a restart from the negativities of last year. Though we are moving into this year with hope and new dreams, we are still striving to overcome the obstacles from the previous year(s)

Previous Years

There are a lot that would say to let go of the past, but when it keeps following you like a lost puppy, it’s a bit hard to let go of. I would love to enter a building while no longer having to wear a mask, but right now, that just isn’t possible. Hence the obstacle following you, but that doesn’t mean we won’t overcome that in the foreseeable future.

As with most, this last year was one I wish to never repeat again. Not only did I completely fail in nearly everything I planned to accomplish, I let things get to me (continue to eat at me from the previous year) that I just couldn’t see past.

Everyone has their struggles and I’ve definitely had my struggles, but that didn’t stop me from planning this year and striving for this year to be different from the last two. Who knows what will happen. The main thing is to continue striving, to keep moving up the mountain until you reach the other side. It may take longer, but I’m not quitting and that is the important lesson. You’ll never get anywhere if you quit, you can always move a step closer if you keep moving.

New Year

Every year is vastly different from the ones before. New goals are set, new achievements to tackle, new things to try. Though the past few years have been pretty bad for me personally, it hasn’t kept me from continuing to strive to move forward with my goals

Those goals don’t always come to fruition, nor do they go as planned, or they fail completely. These are learning experiences you take to the next day, month, or even year. You crawl through the mud left from the struggle you’re going through, climb that mountain, escape the quicksand and move on. Take what you’ve learned and do things better the next chance you get.

Though things have looked terrible, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and a sun in the sky to warm your face. Look for those small accomplishments you’ve achieved, mark them down and focus on them

I may have not gotten to where I want with my blog, videos, or drawings as I had hoped, but we’ve kicked our financial goals in the butt and are sailing along with smooth waters.

Goals and Resolutions

Now, I know some love having resolutions for the new year and that may work for them. Others refuse to call them resolutions and settle on creating goals instead. At this point, I’m going even further and calling them ambitions. They are essentially goals as they should be, but with all that’s happened the last few years, I’ve had to rethink my strategy.

I’ve let down myself as well as my reader/viewers the last two years, I wouldn’t say that I’m not committed, but some struggles debilitate more than others to keep going as you were. Two years ago, I remember how exited I was that January and how much I wanted to accomplish.

For the first quarter, it was going great! I was ahead of schedule, things were flowing on the pages, and I had projects I was excited about introducing. Then life hit me in the face. I was traveling a lot, I had internal demons to defeat, then covid hit and things in the world went down hill. We had to cancel our Disney trip, our house had issues we had to spend our Disney money on because we didn’t have a Savings or Emergency Fund.

But that was all in the past, let’s look to the future and what ambitions we have, what we want to accomplish this year.

Fresh Start Ambitions for the Year

Here are what my ambitions (goals) are for the year:

  • Video Game Challenge Videos: My husband and I have started filming video game challenges with each other and posting them. We try to make them fun and entertaining for our viewers.
  • Content: I’ve had things planned out for years, but I couldn’t get my head to focus enough to get them out. Nows the time to get those things onto your screens for you to view.
  • New Products: I’ve got some new products in mind to add to our store that I hope you’ll like. Some will be designs related to our channel, while others will be related to the categories on my site.
  • Mental Stability: I need to get my mind right and stop letting things get to me to the point I’m just a blob on the couch with no motivation whatsoever. So I plan to start putting things in place that will help me continue with a positive air.
  • I’ve got a surprise project that my sister and I have been talking about for a while now, one of our ‘ambitions’ is to get that up and running this year.
  • Become debt-free (not including the house). We’ve been working hard to get everything paid off and this year has been fantastic for our financial goals. That Disney Trip will be rescheduled sooner than we thing.

Final Thoughts

No matter what you are going through, what happens in the outside world, keep making those baby steps to further your goals, dreams and ambitions. Life will knock you down and things will get in the way, but it’s up to you to stand back up and keep trudging forward.

What are you trying to overcome right now? What are your ambitions for the year? How are you handling things as we continue to battle a world wide pandemic?
