NaNoWriMo is Just Around the Corner…

If you don’t know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, which takes place in the month of November every year.

A little more information…

NaNoWriMo begins on November 1st every year and runs until November 30th. Authors from all walks of life are welcome to join thousands of others who wish to start their first, fifth, or hundredth story.

You are able to complete NaNoWriMo in any place where you can work with paper and pencil/pen or word processor. (You will need to keep track of your word count in order to participate and gain your certificate) Enter your word count daily to achieve your goal of 50,000 words. (That would be 1,667 words a day!)

Support

They provide ‘Regions’ and forums where you can ask questions, get motivation, and be involved in the online community of writers.

You are assigned a Region with a leader who is there to answer any questions you may have as well as provide any information you may need to know leading up to and during the NaNoWriMo.

Inspiration

Need some help getting started? This is the perfect time as they are talking all about NaNo Prep as the weeks get closer to November. They also have events and pep talks from your leaders.

Looking for something more? Pinterest is a great place to find images to inspire your writing. Settings, characters, conflicts, you name it and you can find something there to help you on your journey.

Don’t forget about the forums where you can start discussions and get advice from others who are journeying alongside you as well as veteran NaNoWriMo participants. Ask questions, tells your problem or just vent the day. They’re good that way.

What Am I Doing For NaNoWriMo?

Well, that is the question, isn’t it?

My original plan was to continue in a way with the Conquer the Darkness Series, which I’ve been working on for a while. I’m just about done working on writing the last book and have had plans for another with two other characters, Andrew and Laurie, which my sister is dying for me to write.

Though I love these characters and I want to do them justice, I sometimes feel I need a break from this series to work on something different.

So, I’d like to see what your thoughts are… should I continue with another story of this series? Or do you think I should start something new?
