Basic FAQs

As a lifelong reader (mostly romance), I understand what listeners want – authentic emotion, chemistry between characters, and that perfect balance of spicy and tasteful delivery. I focus specifically on indie authors, offering flexible payment options, collaborative character development, and quick turnaround times that bigger narrators can’t match. Plus, my series consistency guarantee ensures your multi-book projects maintain perfect voice continuity.

Character voice consistency is my specialty. I create a detailed “Character Voice Bible” for every project, documenting vocal traits, speech patterns, and emotional ranges for each character. This includes 30-60 second audio samples for reference and ensures perfect consistency across series. I also offer voice matching consultations if you’re switching narrators mid-series.

Not at all! I love working with indie authors and debut novelists. I offer both royalty share and per-finished-hour arrangements to accommodate different budgets and career stages.

Pricing & Payment FAQs

My rates are structured to provide excellent value while reflecting the quality and care I bring to each project. I offer competitive per-finished-hour rates that vary based on project length, complexity, and timeline requirements. I provide detailed character voice development as part of my standard service and 5-10% discount for series contracts. I’m happy to provide a custom quote based on your specific project needs, including word count, genre, and desired delivery timeline.

Yes! For the right projects, I offer $500-$1,500 upfront plus 15-25% of net sales. This works especially well for series with strong marketing plans.

I can accommodate urgent timelines with surcharges: less than 1 week gets 50-75% surcharge, 1-2 weeks is 35-50% additional, and 2-3 weeks adds 25-35%. Rush projects require higher upfront payments and are limited to maintain voice health.

Timeline and Production FAQs

My recording process is designed to capture the heart of your story with professional quality. I begin with a thorough manuscript review, developing distinct character voices and noting pronunciation guides. I record in a controlled environment using professional-grade equipment, ensuring consistent audio quality throughout. Each chapter undergoes my quality review process before moving forward. I provide regular progress updates and am always available for questions or adjustments. My goal is to create an immersive experience that lets listeners escape into your world – exactly what busy women need after a long day!

Turnaround times depend on the book’s length and complexity, but I typically deliver 2-3 finished hours per week for standard projects. For a typical 80,000-word novel (approximately 6-10 finished hours), you can expect completion within 3-4 weeks from project start, while an over 10 hour book needs 4-6+ weeks . Rush projects may be accommodated with adjusted timelines and rates. I believe in setting realistic expectations rather than over-promising, ensuring you receive polished, professional results that truly bring your characters to life. I’ll provide a detailed timeline during our initial consultation based on your specific project requirements.

Every project includes character voice development, pronunciation research, scheduled check-ins at 25% and 50% completion, and quality consistency checks throughout production.

This is one of my specialties! I create detailed voice bibles in my Notion database tracking every character’s vocal traits, personality notes, and audio samples. This ensures your beloved characters sound exactly the same across multiple books.

Revision & Quality FAQs

I include reasonable revisions in my standard rate because getting it right matters to me as much as it does to you. Minor pronunciation corrections or pacing adjustments are handled promptly at no additional charge. For more extensive changes, I’ll discuss options and any associated costs upfront. I’d rather take the time to perfect your audiobook than rush to completion. My friendly, compassionate approach means I’m genuinely invested in your project’s success, and I’ll work with you to ensure the final product exceeds expectations.

Working Relationship FAQs

I record to ACX standards using professional equipment in my treated home studio.  All recordings meet ACX technical standards with noise floors below -60dB and proper RMS levels. I provide 24-bit/48kHz recording quality and can deliver in any required format.

I use industry-standard contracts adapted for indie author needs. Payment terms are flexible – typically 25-30% upfront, 50% at project midpoint, and remainder on delivery with Net 15 payment terms. I accept various payment methods and can accommodate reasonable payment plan requests for established authors.

Communication is key! I schedule consultation calls before starting and provide updates at 25% and 50% completion. Minor adjustments are always welcome, but significant scope changes after 25% completion require written approval and timeline adjustments. I’d rather discuss concerns early than deliver something that doesn’t match your vision.

Clear communication is essential for a successful audiobook project. I provide regular progress updates and am responsive to your questions throughout the process. We’ll establish preferred communication methods during our initial consultation, whether that’s email, scheduled check-ins, or project management tools. I believe in collaborative partnerships with my authors – your insights about characters and story nuances help me deliver the best possible narration. Think of me as your voice partner, not just a service provider!

That’s exactly why I do check-ins at 25% and 50%! Early feedback prevents major issues later. I’m also available for character voice consultations before we start recording to ensure we’re aligned on the vision.

Romance-Specific FAQs

Absolutely! I specialize in romance with a “spicy but tasteful” approach. I’ll discuss comfort levels and approach during our initial consultation.

Note: For romance genres I record under a pseudonym: Emily Rose.

Yes! As a lifelong romance reader, I understand the emotional beats that matter to readers. Whether it’s the tension in enemies-to-lovers or the sweetness of friends-to-lovers, I bring authentic emotion to character-driven stories.

approach intimate scenes with the same professionalism as any other part of your story. During our intake, we’ll discuss your comfort level and preferences for these scenes so I can deliver exactly the tone you’re envisioning.

Getting Started FAQs

I use a three-phase intake process:

  1. Author/project basics (genre, timeline, budget)
  2. Detailed character information and voice direction preferences
  3. Pronunciation guide and any specific technical requirements

The more detail you provide about your characters’ personalities and how you envision their voices, the better I can bring them to life.

We’ll also schedule a consultation call to discuss your vision and ensure we’re perfectly aligned.

Yes! I can provide sample chapter recordings so you can hear how I’ll bring your characters to life before committing to the full project.

I recommend reaching out 4-6 weeks before your desired completion date, especially during busy seasons. This gives us time for proper intake and ensures I can dedicate focused time to your project. (The sooner the better.)

Perfect! I love working with first-time audiobook authors. I’ll guide you through the entire process, from understanding ACX requirements to planning your audiobook marketing. Think of me as your audiobook partner, not just your narrator.
