There are always ways to create the space you need anywhere you are and that includes in and around school settings. It may not be easy and you might not be able to do much, but it is possible.

Schools

Schools are one place where reading and writing take place regularly, but finding the space you need for your reading and writing may not be what they provide. It’s difficult to focus on the story when you hear everything around you going on at once.

Whether home schooling or at a public school area, you can find a way to have space to yourself as you write or read, even while others are around you.

The Space

Though the normal areas for reading or studying may be in the library, or specified area in the classroom, there are other areas in which you can get some work or reading done after school. Unless your teacher allows you to create your own space within the classroom or another room in the building, I see limited space to set your space.

Homeschoolers have a much easier time as they have more options and areas available to be able to set up their space.

Set Up Your School Atmosphere

Now that we’ve discussed classic writers and their writings, let’s see how you can set up your atmosphere to fit.

At the School

This may not be as easy to accomplish, probably harder than most really. But there are some places you can set up a small area for quick travel purposes. If school is in session, it’s gonna be a bit harder to set up a space, but since you really don’t need much to set up the space, it can be done.

With your bag you can carry headphones, if they are allowed, to get your mind into the space you need for working or reading. The library is a great place as they usually have comfy places to sit as well as tables and chair for those that wish to work.

I know most elementary teachers have a space where children can read and enjoy a moment if they’ve gotten all their work done and are waiting on the rest. Now, if only upper grades did the same.

If school is out of session, you have the school grounds to work with. If no one is on the playground, you can create a fun space there or find a bench, tree, or table outside to work with. Take your travel bag with all the things you need and go have a great time!

In the Home

Within the space of your home, including your backyard (if you spend time outside during this season) you can get bit more creative. As with any atmosphere you are trying to achieve, you can get as creative or simple as you wish. You can create the perfect atmosphere inside or outside with whatever you feel is necessary to your needed area.

Having a space at home, helps you to get your mind right as you enter the area you’ve created the second you walk into the space. Like many others, you can use the outside patio, build an actual space, create one in a space that needs a fresh look or use a space already available, like the living room, study, or even your office if there’s space.

Plan Your Space

This is your space (unless you are going away from home, of course) so you can make it as you want. Go crazy or keep it simple, your preferences count.

If you want to keep it simple, but add a bit of school flare, you can add a few new pencils and erasers. (Who doesn’t love the smell of new schools supplies!) This will keep things simple, but add just a little bit of a change to inspire you.

If you want to do a bit more, have at it. Decide what items you want and where. Make the space comfortable and encouraging, while keeping your senses in mind as you plan.

Remember your basics as well, you don’t want to forget anything as you move from place to place or while you are setting up. Keep hydrated and take care of yourself during this atmospheric season, take breaks when you need them and don’t forget snacks!

Final thoughts

Remember you don’t need to go crazy and create an elaborate space to get the atmosphere you wish to have. A little can do a lot to create the right atmosphere for your goals during this time.
