Corner Cafe

Peotone, IL

We had the pleasure of visiting the Corner Cafe, a very inviting cafe in Peotone, Illinois.

Setting and Atmosphere

The Corner Cafe is set on the corner of Second Street and W Main St, the location gives this cafe a welcoming family feel. With ample seating inside serve and accommodate single patrons to small groups, they’ve got a good place for families to eat and converse.

The generic interior with sparse tea and coffee decor on the walls. They had booths lining the walls and tables with chairs for large groups or couples to sit, eat and converse.

We liked some of the decor and the friendly atmosphere. It was a little crowded with the lunch rush coming in, but not too bad.

Staff and Employees

The staff was friendly, and polite, welcoming us upon entering the establishment. They did a good job asking if we needed anything throughout our meal.

Outdoors

It looked like they had outdoor seating at one point, but they didn’t have anything outside when we went. That was ok because it was cold the day we went there. It still would have made the place a little more inviting if they had outdoor seating.

Food and Drinks

They didn’t have a wide variety of coffee or tea drinks, we both ended up getting hot chocolate because we were cold. I had to have my sister scoop the whipped cream off mine. I don’t like it, but the hot chocolate was pretty good.

The Corner Cafe had a variety of breakfast and lunch options to choose from. We decided to get the Garden Skillet without eggs or cheese and pancakes and a Grandma’s Skillet (Hash brows, Peppers, Onions, and sausage gravy with eggs over easy, toast and a side of corned beef hash. The food was pretty good, there was a lot of it, so we took some of it home. It took a little longer than we would have liked to get our food because of the lunch rush, but that’s to be expected. Our meals were a little on the pricey side.

Final Thoughts

Overall we found the Corner Cafe to be a mild atmosphere but enjoyed the food and hot chocolate. The staff was very friendly and said goodbye when we left.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
