Thank you for choosing Kelly Jean Audiobook Narration for your audiobook project. Because we create custom audio recordings tailored specifically to your book and characters, our cancellation and refund policies reflect the personalized nature of this work.

Please read this policy carefully before booking a project.

1. Cancellation by Client

1.1 Notice Requirement

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing (email) at least 48 hours before the scheduled project start date or milestone deadline.

1.2 Cancellation Before Work Begins

If you cancel before narration begins and provide at least 48 hours’ notice:

  • You will receive a full refund of any upfront deposit paid, minus a $50 administrative fee to cover booking, scheduling, and preparation time.

  • No refund of the administrative fee will be provided for cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice.

1.3 Cancellation After Work Has Begun

If you cancel after narration has begun, refunds will be calculated based on work completed:

Payment Retention:

  • All payments already made are non-refundable for work completed up to the cancellation date.

  • You will receive all completed audio files recorded and edited up to the point of cancellation.

  • Any remaining balance owed for completed work must be paid within 7 business days of cancellation.

Work Completed Calculation:

  • Completed work is measured in finished hours of narration, editing, and quality assurance.

  • If 25% of the project is complete, you retain the 25% upfront payment and receive those files.

  • If 50% or more is complete, you retain the 25% upfront + 50% halfway payment and receive all completed files.

  • If the project is 75% or more complete, full payment is due, and you receive all completed files.

1.4 Series Project Cancellations

If you have booked multiple books in a series:

  • You may cancel future books in the series with 48 hours’ notice without penalty, provided the current book is completed and paid in full.

  • Series discounts (5-10%) apply only to completed books in the series. Canceling future books forfeits the discount on canceled titles.

2. Cancellation by Narrator

2.1 Narrator-Initiated Cancellation

In the rare event that Kelly Jean Taylor Audiobook Narration must cancel a project due to illness, emergency, equipment failure, or other unforeseen circumstances:

  • You will receive a full refund of all payments made.

  • If work has already begun, you will receive all completed audio files at no charge.

  • We will make every reasonable effort to reschedule your project or refer you to a trusted colleague narrator if rescheduling is not possible.

3. Refund Policy

3.1 No Refunds for Completed Work

Due to the custom, creative nature of audiobook narration, no refunds will be issued for work that has been completed, delivered, and approved by the client.

3.2 Refund for Narrator Error

If there is a significant error or quality issue caused by the narrator (e.g., technical defects, incorrect character voices after approval, failure to meet ACX technical standards), we will:

  • First, offer to correct the issue at no additional charge within the revision limits outlined in your service tier.

  • If the issue cannot be resolved to your satisfaction, a partial refund may be issued based on the portion of work affected.

3.3 No Refund for Author-Requested Changes

Refunds will not be issued for:

  • Changes to character voices, pacing, or tone after the 25% sample has been approved.

  • Revisions that fall outside the scope of the original project agreement.

  • Subjective preferences or creative direction changes after work has been approved at milestone checkpoints (25%, 50%, final).

3.4 Refund Processing Time

Approved refunds will be processed within 10 business days and returned via the original payment method.

4. Rush Job Cancellations

4.1 Rush Project Cancellation Policy

Rush projects (delivery in 3 weeks or less) require 72 hours’ notice for cancellation due to the expedited scheduling and prioritization required.

Rush Cancellation Fees:

  • Tier 1 Rush (less than 1 week): 50% of the rush surcharge is non-refundable if canceled with less than 72 hours’ notice.

  • Tier 2 Rush (1-2 weeks): 35% of the rush surcharge is non-refundable if canceled with less than 72 hours’ notice.

  • Tier 3 Rush (2-3 weeks): 25% of the rush surcharge is non-refundable if canceled with less than 72 hours’ notice.

If work has already begun, standard cancellation and payment retention policies apply (Section 1.3).

5. Revision Requests & Refunds

5.1 Revision Limits by Tier

Revisions are included in your service tier as follows:

  • Basic Tier: 1 revision set

  • Standard Tier: 2 revision sets

  • Premium Tier: Unlimited revisions

5.2 Revision Refund Policy

  • Narrator errors (technical issues, incorrect pronunciation after approval, missed lines) will be corrected at no charge, regardless of tier.

  • Author-requested changes (creative direction, character voice changes after approval, pacing adjustments) count toward your revision limit and are non-refundable.

  • Additional revision sets beyond your tier limit will be billed at 75% of the per-finished-hour rate (minimum 1 hour), and are non-refundable once work begins.

6. Payment Terms & Cancellation

6.1 Payment Schedule

Standard payment terms are:

  • 25-30% upfront (due upon contract signing)

  • 50% at halfway point (due upon delivery of 50% of finished audio)

  • 20-25% upon final delivery (due upon delivery of completed, mastered files)

6.2 Late Payment & Cancellation

If payment is more than 10 days overdue, we reserve the right to:

  • Suspend work on the project until payment is received.

  • Cancel the project and retain all payments made and completed work.

  • Charge a 1.5% monthly late fee on outstanding balances.

7. File Delivery & Ownership

7.1 File Delivery Upon Cancellation

Upon cancellation and receipt of payment for all completed work:

  • You will receive all recorded and edited audio files completed up to the cancellation date.

  • Files will be delivered in the agreed-upon format (MP3, WAV, or other) via cloud storage or file transfer.

7.2 Ownership & Usage Rights

  • You retain full ownership and usage rights to all completed and paid-for audio files.

  • Incomplete or unpaid work remains the property of Kelly Jean Audiobook Narration and will not be delivered until payment is received.

8. Force Majeure

In the event of circumstances beyond our control (natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, etc.), we will work with you to:

  • Reschedule the project at no additional cost.

  • Provide a full refund if rescheduling is not possible.

  • Deliver any completed work at no charge.

9. Dispute Resolution

10. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Cancellation and Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
